About Us
Tulocay & Company is rapidly becoming one of the leading all natural food companies in the United States. The company was founded in 1993 with a single product: etched olive oil decanters, which it sold to wineries, hotels, and other private label customers. The success of this business led to Tulocay’s first foray into food manufacturing, an array of olive oils and vinegars created for leading specialty food retailers, including Crate & Barrel, Pier 1, and Dean & Deluca.
In 2001, Tulocay took a significant leap forward when it established the Made In Napa Valley brand, a line of high-end gourmet food products. Today, the line includes dipping oils, flavored vinegars, marinades, simmer sauces, rubs and tapenades. The Made In Napa Valley product line has been enthusiastically received by gourmet food lovers around the country, and was recognized as the Outstanding Product Line of 2004 by the National Association of the Specialty Food Trades (NASFT).
Under the direction of Chairman Richard Long and CEO Howard Mergelkamp, the company has enjoyed rapid growth in the retail and distribution sectors, and has launched a private-label business that serves the retail grocery market. Having achieved the highest food safety rating from AIB International, Tulocay now manufactures many unique food products for national retailers under their own labels.
In January of 2008, Tulocay made two major announcements: one, that it acquired Kingslake & Crane (Now known as NATURE'S HABIT), an award-winning manufacturer of premium granola; and two, that its second branded product line, Vineyard Pantry, an all natural pantry line launched to meet the needs of the supermarket retailer looking for high quality, value-priced products.
Both of these developments will allow the company to keep on fulfilling its mission to provide gourmet food products to consumers at every level. The Nature's Habit products beautifully complement Tulocay’s existing offerings, while the Vineyard Pantry line contains 26 delicious, affordable products that add flair to everyday meals.
Beginning in 2008, the Tulocay brand will not only be synonymous with high-quality products, but also with the wine country experience. The company moved its headquarters to a new 50,000 square foot facility in Napa, with a retail store, tasting room, and demonstration kitchen.
October of 2009, Tulocay & Co launched Good Housekeeping Good Food, a line created for the supermarket industry from the brand that has been delivering good information and advice to consumers for nearly 125 years, Good Housekeeping magazine. The collection was inspired by favorite recipes from the Good Housekeeping test kitchen and features a medley of sauces that range from barbeques and marinades to Asian and Mexican flavors, pasta sauces, mustards and vinaigrettes.
January of 2010 marks the launch of Tyler Florence West Coast Kitchen Essentials, a line of specialty pantry products inspired by celebrated chef and Food Network personality Tyler Florence’s favorite “go to” recipes as well as favored west coast cuisine combined with a little of his Southern roots make up the initial 17 product launch. This all natural, “uniquely Tyler” collection features a variety of versatile sauces, glazes, and marinades, as well as intensely flavored cooking sauces for pastas or slow cooking, and seasonings for everything from fried chicken to grilled fish and slow-roasted pork.
Now, more than ever before, Tulocay & Company is poised as the company to watch in exciting all natural food products, allowing consumers to create meals bursting with fresh, vibrant taste without spending hours in the kitchen.
